Communism in many countries was either replaced by capitalism (USSR, Eastern Europe) or infused with elements of capitalism (China). Was this a positive or negative change? Why?

Positive because it let people have ther own right to make your own decisions.
There is a negative in all changes. China when the citizens wanted to change the goverment it started into a huge war. a positve is after the war citizens got more freedom
I think that it was positive for some countries like east germany, but for others like yugoslavia and china, it only enflamed the problem, injuring more people.
The idea of capitalism was very positive in each of the countries that accepted it, but the act of changing from communism to capitalism in some of the countries was very violent, such as in Tiananmen Square in China.
I think it was both positive and negative cause it was positive for East Germany, but yet again it was negaitive for China cause many people ended up being killed or badly hurt.
i think that it was negative, because a lot more people in china that didnt live near big cities became very poor and werent able to go to a good school, if any.
i think the sudden change to capitalism was mostly negative for the countries that did it. it just created more economic and political problems, like as in Russia and China.
I think that this change was positive because in most cases people got more rights and freedoms, and were much more free to keep their personal lives personal than in the old system.
In my opinion capitalism has been proven to be positive in place like China. In a communist nation people have no opportunity of bettering their ecconomic life because everyone is equal.
It really depends on how really deep one goes into it.
In USA's goals. It's "Yay! The Commies are dead/dieing and democracy and capitalism are in!" And the Cold War comes to a peaceful end, yadda yadda yadda.
To Eastern Europe/USSR(/Russia), it could be seen as bad as the shock therapy shortcircuts and causes inflation and etc. and then the questions begin to be thrown around that Communism wasn't all that bad.
To China, it doesn't matter what color the cat is, as long as it catches mice. Most preferably ones stuffed with $$. In other words, they don't really care. But there's human rights issues and all that stuff being tossed around giving the cats indegestion from the mice.
But then again, they'll probably just replace the cats again, or at least give them earplugs.
I believe that the change to capitalism in previously communist countries was positive because it created more freedom and basic human rights to people in those countries. In some it also improved the economy (like in Hungary).
I think the change was both positive and negitive, it was postitve because it gave citizens more rights such as free elections. It was negitive because in China it led to more violence such as injuries and deaths due to protests.
I think it was positive because people should be able to have their own business in a free market and earn however much money they can. Maybe if in places like China the government had also been infused with aspects of democracy, it would work out better for the people to have this type of economy.
I see this as both a positive and a negative. Positive because the USSR was overall successful in achieving capitalism and democracy but negative in China because "free market, not free people" caused outbreaks to try and receive independence and democracy.
i think that is was a positive because then people could speak their minds and contribute to government decisions and they also gained freedom when they became capitalist as opposed to being Communist
i beleive that its was postitive for some countries example of east germany but it wasnt ok for other countries like china because in the end it injured alot more poeple then it would in just east germany
its positive because it brought forth changes and more freedom for the people there were new ideas that improved others lives it may be negative if people were to not like change and were really set on their ways

Yes, because it led to the peoples right to vote and have freedom.
negative, because the government can't tell them what to produce to help the economy.
yes because it gave people freedom and a right to vote.

I believe it was negative because the government can not make you choose what to make. Even if it helps the economy.
Positive, because it gave the prople mpre rights.
i think that the change was positive because it gave more decions to the people and made the goverments more modern
I think that it was positive, because it gave people the right to vote and make their own decisions.

I believe it was a positive influence because it gave freedom to its people and rights that they didn't have under Communist control.

Positive, because it gave the people in East Germany freedom.
i think is was a positive change because it gave people more rights and freedom son!!!!
this was a positive effect cuz capitalism replaced communism and this gave everyone more freedom.
I belive it was positive because it introduced a free market. While it may have put many countries in economic crisis it will all work out in the end
It was a postitive change because it gave people relief and they were able to have freedom
negative cuz its left with conflicts between the two
Positive. The people of these communist nations became more free to exercize their basic rights as free men.
i think that it was negative, because a lot more people in china that didnt live near big cities became very poor and werent able to go to a good school, if any.
i think the sudden change to capitalism was mostly negative for the countries that did it. it just created more economic and political problems, like as in Russia and China.
Positive because they were more free
i believe that it can be both because when "shock therapy" was activated their was both positve and negative effects for all the countries
negative because our country is falling apart.
I think it was both.. - Negative because of the riots, and life for the people (China)& Positive because the economy was booming.
I think that this change was positive because in most cases people got more rights and freedoms, and were much more free to keep their personal lives personal than in the old system.
I think that it was positive for a country like Germany, but negative for a country like China.
i think it was negative because countries didn't know what to do with it they didn't know how to handle it.
Yes Because it gave people more rights and it gave them alot more Freedom and the right to vote
It was positive it gave people more rights to and more freeedom
In my opinion capitalism has been proven to be positive in place like China. In a communist nation people have no opportunity of bettering their ecconomic life because everyone is equal.
I think that it was negative because it created alot of conflicts and many people died.

I think it is positive because people now have more freedom.
left them the right to vote
Positive, because it let people have more freedom on what they wanted. Communism or Capitalism.
boo red sox
i think that is was a positive because then people could speak their minds and contribute to government decisions and they also gained freedom when they became capitalist as opposed to being Communist

Posative, gave people more rights while alllowing them to be free.
I think it was positive because it gave people a lot more rights and freedoms like the right to vote!
I think it was positive all around because it induced rights and freedom.
In think it was positive because gave people rights and freedoms like the right.
this was positive because it gave people more basic rights
postive cause at least they are making a small or big change to give the people more choices
negitive because in USSR they still didnt have democracy and thought they would be better off under Communism.
positive because it gave people freedom.
i think this was positive because it brought in a change that wasnt making people under so many limitations
this was indeed positive because the citizens finally gained more freedom.
it was positive. it gave them more freedom
its positive because it brought forth changes and more freedom for the people there were new ideas that improved others lives it may be negative if people were to not like change and were really set on their ways
